Step 1
Organise a meeting at your home, online or phone. We will provide factual information on the format of an LPA. You will take sole responsibility for the choice of your Attorney(s) and their subsequent actions under the LPA. You need to think very carefully about the person(s) you can trust to act in your best interest, making sure no relatives who should be included are left out to reduce the risk of family disputes. If you require legal advice on any of these matters you would need to obtain and rely solely on the advice of a solicitor of your choice. Simply LPA cannot give legal advice. If you would like Simply LPA to create and register your LPA’s, we will proceed to Step 2.
Step 2
We will ask you to complete an order form with details of the Donor, Attorney(s), Certificate Provider, Witness(s) and People to Notify (if applicable) so we can prepare the LPA.
At this point we will take payment for our fee.
Step 3
Once the order form has been completed, signed and returned, we will send the prepared LPAs to you. The LPAs need to be signed by the Donor, Attorney(s), and Certificate Provider in the presence of a Witness who also signs. We will then check all signatures and dates have been entered correctly and send them off to the Office of Public Guardian to be registered. The Office of Public Guardian charge a fee of £82 per LPA which needs to be paid by you directly. Registration with the Office of Public Guardian is an essential step as an LPA is not valid until registered. Registration normally takes up to 12 weeks to complete.
